It is so important that women's attire should not enhance her sexual appearance, so as to make her an object in the eyes of the onlooker but, rather, to enhance her inward beauty and draw attraction to the basic beauty of the body, as created by God. Not all men are tempted in the same way or to the same extent but, generally, that clothing which reveals mid-riffs, bare thighs, shoulder, and backs; is low cut, or see-through shirts or dresses, or dresses with long slits in them or quite fitting and very short, are all sources of temptation. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid such clothing so as not to provide any occasion of sin for the male sex. Even clothing that might cover the entire body, but is form fitting, reveals too much of the body and provides a source of temptation.
One such article of clothing that has become prevalent in the fashions of the past century are trousers. Trousers may cover the legs, but they define the legs, drawing attention directly to the place of intimacy in the woman. Within the sexual act, the woman opens her legs to receive the man into her. Trousers divide the woman's legs leading the eyes to this sacred place of self-gift. It reveals too much of the "VIRGINAL MYSTERY" of the woman, highly affecting men, even subconsciously. Presently, with this explanation, however, it can be recognized that the skirt is an important article of clothing for the woman, because it "VEILS" the holy mystery of the woman, protecting her from misuse and keeping her feminine nature precedent rather than promoting her body as an object.
Pope Pius XII commented on this, saying: "A woman may seek comfort and convenience in wearing trousers, but in doing so, she is less likely to be recognized and respected as a lady. Rather she will blend in and be treated as just another man. By dressing IN TRADITIONAL FEMININE ATTIRE women are sure to be recognized as ladies, thus eliciting the admiration and commanding the respect of men, while also glorifying their God-given femininity".
